Adam Bennett grew up and played all his minor hockey in Georgetown, Ontario. After completing 1 year with his local Jr. B team, he was selected 2nd overall in the Ontario Hockey League by the Sudbury Wolves. The very next summer, Bennett was drafted 6thoverall to the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League, and was the first defenceman selected that year
As a rookie, Bennett’s NHL career started with teammates such as Chris Chelios, Jeremy Roenick, Eddie Belfour and Steve Smith. After 2 seasons between Chicago, and Indianapolis (IHL) Bennett was moved to a younger squad of talent in Edmonton where his game began to flourish. Unfortunately, near the end of his 1st season with the Oilers he suffered a serious knee injury which forced his early retirement.
After returning to his hometown, Bennett began a long career as a hockey developer and coach for numerous aspiring players. Many of his students went on to NCAA, minor Pro levels and the NHL. Bennett has been a coach at all levels of minor hockey up to Jr. A with the Mississauga IceDogs in the OHL. In 2008, he was elected to the Halton Hills Sports Museum.
Bennett leads the Hockey Operations at Clearwater Prep as Head Coach & GM of the 16U and 18U teams. “I’m really looking forward to next season with all the new initiatives we’re implementing for our players” says Bennett.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
